Women Rock Fest is a volunteer-run community event working towards creating safer and more accessible spaces for women to engage in music showcases. The festival originated as a response to the lack of visibility of queer, trans, black, indigenous, women of colour, in music festivals; both as performers as well as audience members. We strive to ensure all gender washrooms, wheelchair ramps, closed captioning, and a scent-free environment, are available at our events for every body to be able to partake. We work alongside organizations invested in the betterment of women's lives; all funds raised at WRF2016 will go towards supporting MUJER's programming, centering Latinx women and youth. MUJER aims to create more POC, queer, and trans spaces within Latinx communities; through free feminist public education, peer-support circles, drop-in youth arts programs, and youth leadership camps.
