Opening Reception & Artists Talk: Friday May 6, 6 pm - 8 pm, Free
Exhibition: May 6 - 12, Free
Sur Gallery, 39 Queens Quay East, Suite 100

Her Hands Guide Me is an art installation featuring the work of visual artists Alejandra Higuera and janet romero-leiva, and of their mothers Luz Tirado and Margarita Romero. Although the artists' mothers may not define themselves as artists, they have been creating art their whole lives. This show highlights the relationship between mothers and daughters and how artistic skills have been passed on from generation to generation, showcasing the artists' individual as well as collaborative work. Her Hands Guide Me is a space for immigrants, working class, latinx womyn to share their art practice in a gallery, a space, which has been historically inaccessible to this community.

Co-presented with MUJER and Latin American Solidarity Network.
Co-sponsored by Sur Gallery.

Her Hands Guide Me is part of the 31st annual Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts, set to take place from May 1 - 14, 2016 at various GTA locations. For more information, please
