Haida Gwaii: On The Edge Of The World (Free Outdoor Screening)

Free Outdoor Screening at Fort York

Join us on Thursday, August 4 for a free outdoor screening of award-winning documentary “Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World” within the walls of historic Fort York.

Presented by Fort York National Historic Site and the David Suzuki Foundation's Homegrown National Park Project, the event will include popcorn, beer, popsicles and a campfire.

Stay tuned for updates on this page!

BEER: Sample some tasty local beer from Steamwhistle Brewery (ID required)

TREATS: We’ll have popcorn from Toronto Popcorn Company, gourmet popsicles from Jon’s Pops (, a fun menu, including mooseballs, from Great Canadian Food Truck, and more. Macchina Mobile Cafe will have vegan cookies, and other things, on hand.

SPECTACULAR DOCUMENTARY: The Globe and Mail called the film “spectacular" and it was awarded Hot Docs Film Festival’s BEST Canadian doc. The film features breathtaking Haida Gwaii and the spirited people who populate it. The natural beauty of this culturally rich archipelago has served as a backdrop for many tragedies. And yet, the Haida Nation remains undaunted, drawing on 14,000 years of tradition in preparing for a showdown over the Northern Gateway pipeline and planning for a more sustainable future. MORE DETAILS: The event starts at 8 pm, with the movie beginning at sunset, shortly after 9 pm. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and join us on the lawn inside the Fort to grab a great seat! No pets permitted.
